Before starting her bodywork practice in 1989, Janice spent twelve years conducting physiological research at Northwestern Medical School and the veterinary and medical schools of the University of Illinois. Her research efforts were directed towards understanding integrative systems within the body. Focus was primarily on the respiratory and endocrine systems. As she says, " My experience in research has fostered an ability to see the body as a whole, to relate structure to function and to be adept at solving body puzzles. Chronic pain and discomfort are often like a puzzle. There are certain common pathways of referral in the body to use as a starting point. But each person is unique. A tightness in the shoulder may have its origins lower in the body and be influenced by how one walks and uses the foot leg and hip as support. Fortunately, if you have
an aptitude for puzzles, observe carefully and apply the gentle principles
of Ortho-Bionomy, the body will give you most of the structural information
you need to attain greater comfort. It takes some time and patience but
the rewards are permanent. The rewards include increased self-knowledge
and an ability to rediscover comfort and ease." Get your Health
